Oh Universe!

I am a big believer in serendipity, or the universe guiding your path in a way that you just can’t explain. Today is a perfect example of that.   I had the pleasure of meeting two girls, Mariska and Morraya, in Malaga over the summer. We were in the same hostel, a 10 person bunk I believe. We hit it off instantly. We have some great stories from those few days and laugh at them regularly!   Both Morraya and Mariska live in the Netherlands (although not in the same city) so when I was on my Eurotrip, I had to ensure I made time to visit them.  Morraya was kind enough to host me and I ended up staying like 5 days! (Thanks girl! I owe you!)  Mariska joined us one night for an impromptu dinner and it was like no time had past.  I am not only grateful to have met these 2 amazingly smart women, but I am even more grateful that we have kept in touch! You meet a lot of cool people on the road, but keeping in touch… and I mean regularly, is a rare find.

We have so much in common! Our love of change, travel, humanity and social good… just to name a few! Anyway, on this particular morning we had this incredible conversation filled with “me too’s” and “I was just talking about that” comments, all centered around the joy of writing.  It’s such a little thing I suppose, yet the connection between strangers-turned-friends has been incredible to experience.  We continuously joke about learning how to code so that we can have a job that allows us to work remotely; or the idea of starting our own company so we can rule the world; or simply the weather – it’s always raining in the Netherlands and always sunny in Florida and now Rwanda!!  I think they should move!

Well today, was just really neat!  Morraya brought up that she wanted to start a blog, and then Mariska chimed in saying she was up all night starting a blog of her own as well!  I chimed in saying how we all continue to find ourselves in this place of seeking more. How writing helps us gain clarity but also allows us to feel a little more in control of where we are while still exploring where we want to go. Turns out, Mariska wrote a very similar line in her blog the night before! I just love that!

So here are the links to their blogs! I’m SO proud of them!  Link to Mariska’s Blog & Link to Morraya’s Blog

Writing isn’t something I identify as a strength of mine: primarily because I’m not flowery with words, but I have really come to love it.  What I have learned is that when you put thoughts on paper, you tend to go a lot deeper than you do in your mind. Even when I try and ponder through things mentally, I find that I have way better progress and clarity after writing.  I tend to push myself when something isn’t explained thoroughly which has been enlightening actually. Perhaps there is also less sensorship when writing. I have gained new perspective on myself, where I want to end up, and various inner workings of change that I’m experiencing.

I would encourage everyone to write to see what I mean.  I would never have guessed the outcome would be so personally rewarding. Until next time!
