Ireland: Dublin and Galway

Dublin, February 18-20, 2017

Travel: Drove from Aberdeen to Edinburgh Airport. Returned the rental car.  Flew AerLingus from Edinburgh to Dublin.

LA has been to many of the places I’m going and has a coffee cup to represent many of them.  Everytime I go to a new place, I get a photo of the coffee cup that he is using that morning! It is a highlight of my day!

Hostel: Sky Backpackers Hostel.  I was in an all girl room – 4 beds.  The girls were all really nice.  Two were their on an overnight trip because they were going to school in Cork in a study abroad program.  The other girl, Maria, was on her first solo trip from Greece.  She was there for a festival.

Weather: Low 50’s – it feels magical! 🙂

What to do/see:

Go to LUSH! I walked in because it smelled amazing. LA recommended this place to me and I loved it! I ended up buying a whole new set of face stuff (cleanser and moisturizer) and shower products.  I am tired of pulling out my liquids every time I go to an airport so I decided to try out a few of their “non-liquid” products!  Check out this KIT to see what I got!

Go to the Guinness Factory – they give you a beer and a 180 degree view of the city!

Go to a Celtic show – or see music and dance come together in some way!

See a pony on the street ✔️

Look Left!

Stop by this cute coffee shop as you wait for you busy to Galway!

Go to Galway, Ireland

Galway, February 20 -22, 2017

Travel: bus to Galway takes about 1.5 hours. They have Internet and outlets. It was a great time to get stuff done!

It’s 20 cents to use the bathroom in the bus station! Say what?!

Hostel: Savoy Hostel – a room of 6 girls. I of course was on the top bunk.  I’ve only ever been on the top!

Weather: 45-50 and rainy

What to do/see: Galway is super small and it’s easy to walk.

These cookies were actually purchased in Scotland but I ate the whole box here. Sooo good!

Go to the Spanish Arch Hotel and ask for Monty!

Drink Whiskey

Order chicken wings – it’s served with a bowl of water so you can wash your hands! Genius!

Visit this cute cafe – Caprece

Order the quiche with goat cheese! OMG it’s so good

Visit the college campus

Walk to the cathedral

Go to the Cliffs of Moher

I loved Galway because the people were so friendly! Monty and I bonded over our love of captain and coke and our love of Valencia, Spain! I met a lovely couple from D.C. who were on their way to visit their son. A fellow solo traveler Luis who was driving through Ireland and Maria who taught me about work away!

It was glorious!

Until next time,

A
