United Kingdom at a Glance: London, England

First Stop: London, England
February 9-13, 2017

Travel: Arrived in Gatwick Airport on Thursday, February 9, 2017. Took the Gatwick Express to Victoria Station where I picked up the Circle Line (yellow) to Bayswater Statioin. Walk 2 blocks to hostel.

Hostels: Stayed in 2 hostels during my time in London. Both were right next to the underground and were easy access to the city!

– Astor Queensway Hostel located in Queensborough (they had the most friendly staff I’ve ever met! I would definitely recommend this hostel!)

– St. Christopher’s Inn located in Hammersmith

Weather: it was FREEZING. It hovered between 30-40 degrees while there however it got into the 50’s the following week.

What to do/see

Free walking tour will give a wonderful overview of the city and also share the history which I found interesting. You’ll see Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Trafalgar Square, the Royal Palace, Parliament, Horse Guards Parade among other things!

The various Burroughs are all so different that I found them all fascinating from a city development perspective. Kensington Garden, Chelsea, Notting Hill, Hyde Park, Mayfair, etc.

I saw Wicked but seeing a show in London is a must do!

Eat a full English breakfast … Just because!

Visit Harrod’s – a huge mall – and go to their tea room! It will be the most amazing tea you’ve ever had!

Ride a double decker bus

Visit a museum – I went to the British Museum. A tip from Audra: Rick Steves has an app that has free audio tours that you can download for museums which allows for a more enriching experience!

Visit South Audley Street! No reason here except for what a great name for a street when AUDra and ashLEY are visiting together #audley

Transportation: Their underground system and bus system is amazing. It’s so easy to get around. It’s walkable and just a great place to visit and experience many things!

Next stop Edinburgh, Scotland! Stay tuned!

Xoxo
